How to choose an e-ink weather station
An e-ink weather station is a forecast you read like a note on the fridge: no glow, no app to open, no subscription. UkieLab stations pull Apple Weather (WeatherKit) data for your location over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi every 30 minutes, then sleep — which is why they run for weeks on a charge.
Start with where it will live. The 7.5″ is sized for a desk, nightstand or fridge door and shows today plus four days. The 10.2″ adds an hourly strip and the full week, and it’s easy to read from across a kitchen or hallway.
Then decide on CO₂. The optional sensor shows your room’s CO₂ level with indoor temperature and humidity — useful in bedrooms and home offices, where a stuffy room creeps up on you. Under 1,000 ppm is good; above that, open a window.
You don’t need an iPhone or an Apple account: the station fetches the forecast itself, and setup runs in any phone browser. Built-in magnets hold it on a fridge; the stand works on any shelf.
Good questions.
Do I need an iPhone for an Apple Weather station?
No. The station downloads the forecast itself; any phone or laptop browser can set it up.
How long does the battery last?
Weeks per charge at the 30-minute refresh (3000 mAh in the 7.5″, 4000 mAh in the 10.2″). Or keep it on USB-C power.
Is there a subscription?
No. The forecast is included for the life of the device.
Is the time on screen a clock?
On the 7.5″ it shows the time of the last update, so you know how fresh the forecast is.
